Nice eyecatcher. Should change that, thanks. Copying stuff is just easy sometimesđ
I have been wondering if i should say anything since I love that you are sharing that. But it does read kind of funny. Maybe you can say âOne of our regularsâ or âCyndiepoohâ instead of âIâ at the beginning, and then leave off the thanks at the end.
Yeah, thatâs a good suggestion. Gonna change that right now.
Hey everyone! Since weâre on the topic, Iâd like to share my tips opinion on this . I think directly quoting the original post is a much better way to go.
By using the quote feature, youâre not just sharing information, youâre also:
Giving credit: The original poster, like Cyndiepooh, gets proper attribution and earns Cheers (points on the Global Leaderboard) when their post is shared. This is a great way to thank them for their detailed explanation.
Preventing redundancy: As you noticed, copying and pasting can lead to awkward phrases like âI have this written up.â A direct quote avoids this entirely.
Maintenance: If the original post is edited with new info, the quote updates everywhere!
Providing context: It links directly back to the source, so new readers can easily understand the full conversation by navigating to the source.
Edit: Add a note to click on this arrow to read the updated version
Every time you try to explain something to me, it makes sense when you say it, but then I am lost when I try to do it. I have no idea how to modify that to show the latest version when someone quotes it. In my notes, I look for âNewest Versionâ which is this:
I have this written up for when I see a wheresmypokestop question:
I know the prompt tells you that you are submitting a âPokestopâ but you are actually submitting a Wayspot to the database. The Wayspot can only become a Pokestop or gym if it is alone in a level 17 S2 cell. (The S2 cell use has not been officially confirmed to my knowledge, but staff has acknowledged there is an additional step.) This is a good article about S2 cells and how they have been observed to be used in PoGo: https://pokemongohub.net/post/article/comprehensive-guide-s2-cells-pokemon-go/
(Eligible Wayspots are added to Pokemon Go in a sync that happens once a day normally. If it has not been more than 48 hours since it was accepted, it could just be that it has not synced in yet.)
Wayspots that are not eligible to be Pokestops or gyms still have the potential to be used as Power Spots. It appears that there is a 22m distance requirement from any Pokestop or gym for it to be used this way, and it seems there is a limit of two active Power Spots per L14 S2 cell, the same size used to determine gyms. The schedule for syncing in new Power Spots is not on a daily basis. The last few syncs have been on the 4th of the month.
If you would like to leave the title and location, someone here with access to external resources may be able to confirm if there is indeed an issue with the S2 cells. But since the sale to Scopely has affected these Niantic (now NianticSpatial) maps being updated, it may be more difficult. The gps coordinates where you pinned the Wayspot will be after the second photo in the email you received when you submitted the nomination, but the pin may have been moved in voting. Do be aware this is a public forum if you would rather not reveal your location. I realize this is a lot of information to dump on someone, so please ask if you have more questions.
Feel free to modify that to make it updateable and shareable.

And then there is the issue of finding where to quote it from. If people could easily find it, then they wouldnât be asking the question. I did put the whereâs my pokestop tag in there in hopes that would help. Sorry if I am cluttering up the forum.
I have all the same questions! So glad you are asking
Well can just keep it in one tab open haha. Frankly the question so often that iam sure it will be used
I was wondering about âIâ as well but since cyndiepooh doesnt say anything, i just go along with it haha
i didnât understand this at all. sorry
I completely understand! The way the forum software works isnât always intuitive. Itâs not you, itâs the technology!
This is the easiest way. All you need to do is save the direct link to your post. When you paste this link into a new comment, the forum will automatically generate a quote box for you.
For example, your post is located at this URL:
https://community.wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/t/approved-pokestop-not-showing/106765/2
When you copy and paste that link, it will appear as a quote that links back to your original post. This is the best method to use in your notes or spreadsheet, because the link will always bring up the most recent version of your post.
This is the best method to use if you want to be able to read the text in your saved notes/document.
Go to your post and highlight the text you want to quote.
A pop-up will appear with a âCopy Quoteâ button. Click on it.
The text you highlighted, along with the correct code to make it a working quote link, will be copied.
It will look like this:
[your entire message here]
Just a heads-up on the second method: when readers see this quote in another post, they might need to click the small arrow next to it to see any newer amendments youâve made to your original post
Click on the little arrow to go to the original post
Edit:
Thank you @NianticAtlas for that post. Really helps us out.
(Immediately saved this in my notes)
As for an other side, it is getting a bit out of hand how much this question pops up as a topic, almost daily now, and we gladly answer it to help the people out.
However, answering this question almost daily is not what we are looking to do when we are on the forums.
Is there a way to prevent these questions getting asked almost daily?
(I know there is a topic pinned for this, but it does not seem to help given how many times the questions pops up)
I think people might keep posting, but instead of copy-pasting the same answer into each post, it might be better to direct new players to the place where they can find the answer to this and other frequently asked questions, i.e. answer with
Please read comments in the pinned post
https://community.wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/t/why-hasnt-my-approved-poi-shown-up-in-my-game-yet
(and add more comments there explaining s2 cells and such)
@cyndiepooh why donât you create a topic in the basics section, just for your post. We can then lock it so that doesnât have any comments etc.
hopefully some people may just find it, but anyone else can just bookmark it.
Should make it easy to find
I changed some of the wording to be more of a general info post instead of a direct reply to an individual. Feel free to edit, comment, or DM me if anything needs changing.
Iâve locked that topic.
Thanks for that @cyndiepooh
Was going to suggest something like this, did think if there was enough âstandard repliesâ that we should have a category just for them.
Also, should this thread be split?
Thanks to all the staff, ambassadors and âveteranâ posters for all their help.
We could explore this in the forum suggestions category?
I will look to see if this will split in a sensible fashion.
