@RoIi112 do you mean actively removes via Emily on nomination OR removes post accepted.

If you peruse the Wayspot Appeals category, you will see many cases where Wayspots featuring graffiti have been removed by Niantic, and only rarely reinstated. So Niantic is actively removing post acceptance.
Do you think it is active or is it a case of people “reporting” an issue with the graffiti and then ‘active’ removals…?
I have no insight into this. Probably a little of each.
A review has no indication of which is the old or new text. If you don’t like the order you see, just hit refresh until it changes.
Perhaps Niantic wants Emily to see identical nearby pergolas as part of a single set. They’ve said that in the past, with the example of two Chinese lion statues being a set - one wayspot, not two individual wayspots. It’s easier for me to see with an artwork, than with a place for socialization. But that could be what they’re thinkin.
This might be the case, but if so they really need to be much clearer in communicating these things. I’ve always said that if they would just be more open and honest, so many of these frustrations would disappear.
Some proper rejection feedback would go a long way for instance.
I had never reviewed until a few weeks ago, and I am convinced that reviewers do work for free. The “upgrade” reward is nothing as a reward for the the time you spend reviewing. A total waste of time.
Welcome to the forum! We have been chatting on your work for free post already but the prompt to welcome you is here =)
Since you just started reviewing, you may not be aware of the situation. Since about March of this year, Niantic’s ML model was accepting or rejecting all the easy decisions, leaving us with just the in-between iffy nominations to review. So many of us were having our nominations decided in 24 hours, that upgrades were just stacking up with no use for them. I used to have to use them in order to get a decision in less that a year (or more), but now I have this many:
ML was taken offline a while back, and while rejecting has been turned back on, accepts have not been. (See ML Auto-Decision Issue)
I LOVED 24 hour accepts, but I must admit that reviewing is much more fun when we get to see easy things to accept come through voting.
Such a great reply and explanation.
I just started reviewing right before eMiLy got sick. In the beginning (when eMiLy was functioning) it was def hard to start reviewing because everything was “uhhhh idk, is a community sign eligible? is this a generic business or a important local business?” Spent a lot of time on each review.
Now, with eMiLy down, there are some easy accepts that are actually cool and I get enjoyment from seeing. Earlier today there was a giant bull sculpture in NC, the description said the town bull is famous especially becomes some high school seniors stole the bull and put it on their rival’s football field the night before a big rivalry game.
That’s a cool aspect of that towns history I now know & the bull (in its proper place) is cool to look at.
But, that comes at the expense now of having nominations go from getting reviewed in 24 hours to taking multiple months to now if I don’t use an upgrade it is still in voting (3-4 months later).
So idk the answer but my dream would be if eMiLy still made accept & reject decisions, but if a small control sample was also put into community voting to see if the community agrees with eMiLy’s determination so she can continually learn/improve.
That way some things eMiLy would have auto-accepted and might be cool still get into community voting.
(Then also, some of the grey area things could be easily accepted/rejected if/once Niantic Wayfarer provides clear clarification criteria. I’m sure there are more items but subdivision/community signs are the first thing my brain thinks of.)
I’m only reviewing as much as I am because I can’t get a determination on a nomination without an upgrade. I wish eMiLy would come back, and then clearer criteria to make what does get into community voting a little easier to determine.
Either way we can’t go back to a year or more to get a determination you’re an OG <3
A year? Check this out:
I said “or more” lol. I remember when nominations got a soft upgrade push when they got to 2.5 years without a decision. I hope those days are over, but I hope the old nom push is still in place.
I had one go into queue for yonks (British Term for a long time)
so I created a new nom. It went into voting straight away and was accepted.
A few months later the original one went into voting and was rejected for duplicate.
I hope that was the case here @BlameJamal
EmiLy has a lot of upside. I wish to see the ML back soon and see what improvements have been made
FOR ME, Emily is capricious, random, and destructive. My submission may as well have fallen into a black hole or a multi year queue for all the good it does ME. This is not an improvement.
I don’t see the garbage submissions she perhaps filters. So I don’t know what kind of job she’s doing there. I only know that she is pointedly discouraging me, personally, and that “the community” really isn’t much help in these cases.
So you have a distinctive love and appreciation for ML?
In this context? No, not really.
Elsewhere? Eh.
It’s a tool. Used well, it’s cool. Used poorly, it’s a nuisance.
One of the problems with ML, (and related tech), is that it tends to aim to serve the majority, only the majority, and anyone else can just lose… I’m never in the majority. So when ML types of things are implemented, my personal experience tends to plummet.
Who has been appro ing all of the memorial benches? Emily or the reviewers? It clearly states that description must indicate how the person was notable. In months of reviewing ive had 1 that was done correctly. I see incorrect ones all over.
i don’t have a shrug emoji to react with. i suspect it is a combination of uniformed reviewers accepting without understanding criteria, and the Machine Learning model learning from the incorrect accepts.
at least ML accepts are currently paused.
