We discussed that it is not entirely random previously on the forum:

Staff did not weigh in on that topic as to whether it is considered abuse, although it had been called abuse in the past.

Thanks for the additional information, I stand corrected. We are looking into the situation as we speak. It may take some time but I’ll follow-up with updates.

Oh,

I see that @Skinnydeads was ahead of me. But i also have filmed 6 wayspots.

What @Skinnydeads said: Wipkip is the next to be promoted to an gym. 6 days ago there was a new picture added. But the object of the wayspot is already gone for 2 years.

If it has been removed a removal report can be filed to remove the wayspot either ingame or by one of the forms. You can provide a photo as evidence

If you need to collect more removed waypoint names and locations, beyond checking Ingress, it’s possible to see routes created that were archived when a stop was retired, maybe ask around and see if people in your community have any

We conducted a deep dive into this situation and identified multiple accounts active in coordinated Wayfarer abuse.

We have taken necessary action against all the accounts involved and have reverted the changes on the Wayspots impacted.

Please do appeal the removal of Wayspots if we missed any and we will be happy to look again.

Thank you Aaron! Is this confirmation that Niantic considers placing likes on Wayspot photos to make them become gyms as abuse? There was more to this story.

Well, there’s someone on Twitter (now X) that went mad because his game account got banned for requesting a Pokestop that was removed by local government

Unfortunately, people do spout off on these platforms when they get caught out and “ignore” the facts.

They have the option to appeal a ban if they have evidence that it was incorrect.

As they are probably aware that they can’t do this then they spout their version of the story where they are not going to get an official response and unfortunately they do get a crowd that will believe them. :frowning:

That reminds me of the time where someone posted on the wayfarer subreddit complaining about their “perfectly legitimate” LFL nomination (I can’t remember if they’d been suspended or that their nomination simply wasn’t accepted), whilst a quick check of their Reddit post history had them posting in a Photoshop subreddit asking if someone could help them Photoshop a LFL into a photograph that looked very familiar when looking at their post in the wayfarer subreddit :man_facepalming:t3:

Often or not, people who post stuff on X about their accounts being banned / suspended are doing it to get other players to spam the NianticSupport account in order to get some action performed.

For such reason I do not trust Pokemon GO Community in social media lol, especially because of previous incidents.

That person is me, they said i was manipulation the gameboarrd and multi accounting. No warning just a straight up ban. Their database is so good that they still believe they haven’t banned everyone. 4/5 people got banned in Rotterdam, that is 30km away where it all started , we’ve never ever visisted delft in the first place. The multi accounting is not true, i can make a list of all the friends i have with asy names etc.

i think it might be this. The person who is behind all this used to live here so we had a POI war against him. he deleted true nominations and we requested them back. There’s been a lot of activity near me. I liked the photo of my own POI’s and he added photo’s with the same accounr he was flagged for in delft. But honestly it’s just speculation since they can press ban and tell you flase claims like multi accounting (i only have 1 account) or game manipulation in Delft (i’ve only been there for my work)
