They’re also not added to the database if lousy reject-happy reviewers have their way. The AI approves plenty of my submissions within a day while reviewers reject them after weeks, if not months of delay. I’ll gladly wait until the AI comes back online.

Yeah, two per twenty days. Not nearly enough.
everyone shares their theories on why ML is down, saying its possibly because so much coal got in, that its retraining etc. and then they say they arent nominating until ML comes back… if they believe all these possible theories… why are they so confident that ML will come back as it was, and will keep accepting the stuff they say the community doesnt approve?

great point, roli! and iirc, right before ML started accepting everything i submitted back in march, a lot of stuff was pulled into niantic review. i assumed this was testing the ML model.
if nothing is in the system to test, idk how they could turn it back on confidently. if i stumble upon something i haven’t already nominated, i will.

Yeah, I’m not going to stop submitting or reviewing just because ML has been off. We used to not have ML, not have quick accepts, so everything had to go through community voting.
Yes, ML has been a benefit to me, accepting much of what I submit. It has also led me to improve on my submissions, so even if ML isn’t working quite right, I have faith in my submissions getting approved by the community, or even Niantic review.
Since it became apparent that Emily was on holiday I’ve not been submitting. I haven’t felt motivated to do so. Emily is a great motivator as I had grown to appreciate that quick gratification.
By contrast I have been reviewing more as I have been finding it more satisfying to see and approve the really good and interesting ones that Emily previously snaffled.
So for me a big chunk is about the experience and how that affects my motivation.

not true. people want portals, pokestops, and other game locations. many submitters don’t even know niantic uses ML

The majority of contributing parties is made of people that read this forums. Noone else here submits Pokestops, gyms and Power Spots. We do take care of the way spots that are submitted.
I don’t know if this applies to the part of earth where you live in.
Remember earlier posts where explorers were lamenting the fact that eMiLy was taking the “easy” agreements? And all they were reviewing was coal?
Your previous statement suggests people have left because eMiLy is offline. Large scale I think that idea is false.
I believe there are people that are enjoying seeing the variety that were used to seeing, and I believe there are people that are disappointed that eMily is not approving POI’s in 22-ish hours like it was prior to US Thanksgiving.
But to suggest that people will stop interacting with the platform… to me is silly. I’ll stand by this statement. If you quit because of the Bot.
You weren’t really dedicated to improving the Lightship Map in the first place. You were looking for something quick and easy.

100% correct for me. My purpose in engaging with Wayfarer, and by extension these forums occasionally, is because I want to improve the Pokemon Go map for both myself and my community.

ML is rejecting nominations, just not currently accepting them. It is still accepting some photo submissions. And some people are reporting other ML edit decisions, but I haven’t had one of those to verify.
Precisely. Why would anyone willingly report outdated Pokestops for removal if it just results in their ability to play Pokemon Go getting worse?

I’d also prefer to have Wayspots to interact with that actually exist. I don’t think anyone in my local community has cried foul for me getting non-excitant Wayspots or ones that don’t meet criteria removed, while adding new ones that do meet criteria at the same time. I doubt most players even notice, and most don’t even know Wayspots can be removed per a removal request, not just by Niantic alone.
