Is there a way to see find out why my Waysport nomination did not turn out to be a Pokestop?

I got a Wayspot nominated 4 weeks ago, but it has not appeared as a Pokestop.
Is there anyway that I can find out why it has not become a Pokestop?
The old link for s2 cells does not work for me.

Hello and welcome @dennisdahlc

When you say nominated do you mean it was accepted?

If you can tell us the title and location - coordinates are good - we can check if 5gete is a problem.

Ah yes. It was accepted.
The name is Infotavle over Aalborg og Nørresundby
The coordinates are 57°02’40.0"N 9°56’54.4"E

I haven’t properly checked, but at a brief glance it looks like it’s in the same Level 17 S2 Cell as Cafe Frederiksberg

Hankwolfman is right

If you have the Google Play version of iitc for Android, that doesn’t work anymore. I had to download iitc from F-Droid.

How do you get the app to show the cells for pokemon go? Is that still available? I watched a YouTube video of an app that would do this but I couldn’t find the app in the android store. Not sure if the video-maker was an apple user or not.

I am not allowed to share a direct link to this because of forum rules, but was told I could share a screenshot. The overlay is pogo-s2

I have been so grateful that Niantic has allowed us to share information about how Niantic uses S2 cells in Pokemon Go on this forum. It cuts down so much on the frustration of wondering why this accepted Wayspot appeared in that game, but another one did not. That said, I try to put a reminder out there that using cell knowledge to misplace a pin for game purposes is abuse that Niantic takes seriously. Only use knowledge of cells to understand if a location is eligible to appear in Pokemon Go. Always submit the pin where the object exists in real life.

Hello and welcome,

Should add that the map above is the Ingress Intel map, with an overlay extension that allows S2 cells to be seen. You do need to have an Ingress Prime account in order to access the map.

There used to be an app for the Spatial/Lightship map, but Niantic has retired it for Android as of November 2024, and I believe it’s soon to be retired for iOS. I thinking that the video you watched may have some outdated info in it. Here’s the discussion about this app’s deprecation, which includes a link to a news post from Niantic about it.

The fact that this is the Ingress map with an overlay is stated in the screen snip I posted, and further exact instructions are included should anyone chose to check out this link.

Another tool that might have been meant as the one that no longer works could have been Sidewalk Labs tool. I don’t know of an alternative to that one.

We don’t know what map app they are referring to seeing in a YT video. It’s very likely that this video has outdated info, if it was mentioning the Wayfarer app.

They mentioned the Android store, so this could be Google Play. They’re also new to the forums and may not know that YT isn’t always the best place to find up-to-date info.

I’m just trying to make sure as much info for this new forum user is provided so they can figure out what the video may have been talking about.

I’m just getting a bit frustrated because I’ve had 4 accepted nominations within the same park “appear in other Niantic games” but not PoGo (there are also 2 more that are the same way but I didn’t submit them). I’m thinking that perhaps the entire park is in only a couple cells or something but it seems very hard to check this per searching the internet for the IITC reference earlier.

I was trying to help out that PoGo group to get community ambassador status by getting more stops and hopefully another gym in their main park to be able to draw more players’ interest.

if you go to that pogo-s2 link, it walks you through getting the correct version of iitc with links

if you have more issues with that tool, folks on the wayfarer discussion discord can help. you can get an invite to that server at wayfarer.tools

using iitc gives you the assurance that the wayspots that it does show are accurately placed. it does only show portals. most other cell overlay apps i have heard of depend on user entered data, which can be inaccurate.

edit: did some research. i see that it is associated with spoofing. no wonder i have never heard of that tool. i would not be surprised if niantic had taken it down.

Edited out mentions of tools against ToS with the understanding that no one was doing it intentionally - thank you for your understanding
