I think some of the Power Spots would be back in the next circulation. Let’s wait and watch.
Hmm well it’s happening even in urban places i don’t know what’s the point but they are not adding gyms here so I don’t even know what upgrades are to be done as there were already lots of pokestops here.
What makes you think that urban areas should not be included in it? I think you need to read the announcement again.
And Gyms are based on the number of Stops in that l14 S2 cells.
true, i noticed like 1 or 2 new pokestops (not gyms) in place of powerspots among 100 of pokestops in my area. Feels more like a downgrade.
If you’re familiar with Gym creation rules and think that it is not being followed, you can report with location details and tag staff.
Please read the announcement properly they say it’s for remote and rural places.
It will improve the experience in remote and rular places. This change is for all locations in India and Indonesia. You have missed the later part of the announcement.
I’m referring to this part:
Hi @Lionhearted1,
Thanks for asking. Unfortunately Wayfarer cannot dictate what Wayspots become PokéStops or Gyms. This is based on the system Pokémon GO has set and to my understanding they did not change it for this project.
I’ll make sure to share your feedback.
Hi @gchirag007,
Thank you so much for sharing this with us. Yes, it’s a roll out so the replacements should come within 48 hours from when they made the change. Those 48 hours are almost up so if you don’t see them within the next several hours then please share and we’ll look into it.
Thanks for the question @DillionHarper. Making PowerSpots permanent wasn’t part of the conversation for this project so I don’t have an answer for you at this time.
Hi @Nickthiru,
Thank you for sharing your feedback. I’ll make sure to add it to our feedback collection and share it with the Pokémon GO teams.
Hi @dhuan79,
Firstly, welcome to the forum I see this is the first time you’ve posted.
Now to your feedback. Thank you for taking the time to process your thoughts and share them with us, we appreciate it. I’ll admit I don’t have the answers or responses to each point but happy to respond to those that I can respond to.
- Announcement Reach - this is a fair point and will follow up with the team around any other marketing campaigns they did on the Pokémon GO side other than me posting it here.
- Non-Rural/Remote cities impacted - I’ll be sure to share this with the team. With your consent, happy to look at your Home Town location within Wayfarer to use as an example.
Again, thanks for your feedback.
Indian player here. Lots of new stops and some even have turned into gyms BUT because of this conversion there are hardly any powerspots available in the whole city. A bunch of local players have reported only one power spot active, which was a POI nominated recently. Most of the usual power spots have turned into pokestops. Only a handful (about 2-3) have not turned so we are assuming it’s just not in rotation. Please reconsider adding more powerspots or reverting the ones converted. Thank you
That’s why I see the temporary power spots as a problem, because then the problem is that they don’t appear. At the last event, we missed some DINAMAX/GIGAMAX power spots because many of the power spots disappeared on the day of the event. I hope they reconsider this because for huge cities this isn’t a problem, but for small areas, it certainly is.
Making game locations at schools for children isn’t a good business decision though, so I think @patsufredo is making a good point here.
Hopefully the schools and other completely ineligible locations can be removed quickly.
They not only risk issues for Niantic from complaints by the local community (the press would not be kind to Niantic about 100 adults descending on a school to do a max battle or 20 to do a raid) but they also send the wrong message out to potential wayfarers about what should be submitted.
I think unfortunately imported Power Spots have already had this impact in many places, not just India and Indonesia
Hi,my community is affected by this, usually around an mall complex there is 8-10 powerspot now there is only 1 now
Yep but at least they weren’t pokestops and gyms at that point but agreed, the whole import thing has been awful
Hello Explorers,
Thank you for your feedback on this update. I’ve been sharing the feedback with the teams and identified some errors in my initial post. Please see the updates in the News & Announcements post for updated information. The main changes add more clarity as to how we identified which locations would be getting this change but also calling out that it was intended for rural, urban, and suburban locations not just remote.
My sincerest apologies for the initial error and hope that this provides some clarity. Our team is still looking into some of the other issues and will have more updates in the coming days.

The thing is if this powerstops are not a permanent feature (their access availability 24/7 ) why follow all the criteria like pokestop and gyms just verify if it’s in a safe location and Not a K2 or SFR than give them green light imo.
