Need a guide when rejected

Dear Niantic Wayfarer Team and everyone,

I am a new and active Pokémon GO player and community contributor. I regularly submit nominations to help improve the game map for local players

Recently, my nomination “Trang trí cây xanh” was rejected with the reason: The location of the submission does not match the photos and/or map.

  • The title: Trang trí cây xanh
  • Information: Các cột để chậu cây xanh, tranh trí cho khu sân ngoài trời
  • Description: Trang trí cho sân công cộng của chung cư Bắc Rạch Chiếc
  • Location: 10.815712, 106.767151

Although this appears to be a road, it is actually a private pathway within a residential apartment complex, not a public street with heavy traffic. It is safe for pedestrians and residents to access the nominated location.

The photo location might have been submitted with incorrect coordinates. I will add more information to this nomination and resubmit it with the correct location.

I would appreciate your guidance on what I should do or provide so that my nomination can be approved. Let me know if you need any information for this nomination.

Thank you for considering this nomination

Good day and welcome to the forum!

While the rejection may be proven incorrect, what is also missing would be how it would meet at least one of the eligibility criteria. How does this object specifically lead towards being a great place for exploration, exercise, or socialization?

Here, people often decorate the trees during major holidays such as Christmas, Lunar New Year, and other national celebrations. The courtyard at this location is also quite spacious, and I often see residents engaging in sports activities such as playing badminton. Because I thought the apartment building itself might not be suitable, I chose an outdoor location instead.

Greeting, firstly, very cool name you have here.

Secondly, I do like your nomination because I think it has a factor of exploration in here, however your description doesn’t show that for me. Your description only state it is a “line of leaf that is decorated for outside”, and that’s it. You did not list why is it special, hence why if the location is correct, I would not be able to verify if the location has socializing factor.

Lastly, you can GPS tagging your photo to prove the location did exist and put it on supporting information.

Thank you, I’ll take updated photos and upload them as soon as I can.

I will give the benefit of the doubt that the location might be accurate, however since the street map is 5 years ago showing, it is hard to identify how many thing can be changed

If you do want your nomination to be likely approved, you need to write more stuff, here is an example I can give you.

(Translated: Located in Bac Rach Chiec apartment, those pots of long tree are where people decorated stuffs related to Tet holiday, special occasion in national holiday, Christmas day, …)

You need to locate where it is standing, then name a special thing or event or feature that is worthy of a wayspot. This is just an example so you can write and get people to be more convincing.

From what you’ve stated here, it seems the courtyard can potentially be eligible. But the title here translates to “decorated tree”. While the tradition of decorating elements do show culture, I do not think the tree or any object decorated is distinctly something that is unique?

We also do banderitas for many occasions, the thing being decorated is not always the significant object.

If I understand him correctly by meaning, those pillar of tree is the only one in here. Unless there are more then it is not eligible due to not being distinct in my opinion.

Yes, that’s right. I will update the photos with its location, and since the courtyard itself is not particularly special, I think they have added some elements to enhance it. As it is a shared space, it is mainly used for hosting events for the community.

Shared space can be nominated as a wayspot if you can prove the hosting events exist. Otherwise people will look at an image with “đất trống” or empty zone.

You need to highlight:

Is there some good sitting place for event?
Is there proof that multiple event being hosted here exist?
Is there any detail that prove this is a hosting event? [Stair to a more higher ground for people to host event]

Adding from above, from Private Residences, Farmland & K-12

I think there is a disconnect between your definition of “special” and the eligibility criterion. The eligibility criteria refers to:

  • A great place for exploration

  • A great place for exercise

  • A great place to be social with others

If context provided is true, the courtyard can be eligible because it is the place to host events for the community. Next problem would be choosing a focal point for said location.

“an outdoor exercise area, or a dedicated social space”
My location has both of these elements, but only the potted plants are distinctive enough to photograph and indicate that it is in a public yard area.
How should I take photos of places with a large courtyard but no distinctive features to capture?

If you use one of those apps to add the location to the photo, that can only be used on the supporting photo. I wanted to be clear about that, because that would be a rejection reason on the main photo.

You can try to capture the area itself as a whole. Keep in mind that in using placemarkers, the POI itself would still be what it placemarks rather than itself. So the nomination should pertain to the courtyard instead of the vertical planters.

It is highly likely that it would get AI filtered, in which case strong argument and proof may be needed for the appeal.

I try resubmit but I think this location can’t if I capture area, hard to find special location for this yard

Title: Sân công cộng tại khu căn hộ Bắc Rạch Chiếc (Public Yard at Bac Rach Chiec Apartments)

Description: Đây là một sân công cộng nằm phía trước khu căn hộ Bắc Rạch Chiếc.

(This is a public yard located in front of Bac Rach Chiec apartment complex. It features organized rows of trees, a palm tree, and a vertical garden system that promotes greenery and sustainability in the urban environment. The area includes walkways and open space, making it a pleasant spot for local residents to relax, take walks, and enjoy fresh air. This green corner contributes to the community’s quality of life by offering a touch of nature amidst the city landscape.)
Categorize this locations: A great place for exploration

I think Niantic only accept if have good special location and a photo around it, only area can’t submit. I tried my best for this position

I would try again with a main photo that focuses more on the seating area instead of trying to capture the whole courtyard. I think this photo did not have a clear focus for the automated process to understand what you were submitting.
