I regret starting this thread myself, if only cause of the amount of notifications i get of other threads being merged into this one :rofl:

That’s assuming it’s using lvl 14 cells. I have lvl 14 cell near me that has 0 Wayspots and 1 Powerspot. I’ve seen plenty of lvl 14 cells with no Wayspots and no Powerspots though. Why would that one specifically get a Powerspot and the others none?

Perfect. I’ll make a route too.

Powerspot is the x @elijustrying

If it’s x level of cell has a Wayspot then add a Powerspot the only level that would work with the above is 12 which is a huge area.

Right but they moved their entire checkin platform to Swarm in 2014. Foursquare today acquires other databases, have a geospital platform, and it more business focused. They focus more on selling their own platform for websites.

Appreciate the reply, my responses are below.

Other location-based games don’t have a system for their players to suggest new points of interest to be added to their gameboard. Niantic does, and adding points of interest to their gameboard that violate their own rules is counterintuitive to their player base following those rules.

You’re right, they aren’t. But again, a lot of them don’t follow the rules of Wayfarer and thus could possibly encourage newer or less knowledgable Wayfinders from attempting to add them to the lightship map. ā€œIf it’s a powerspot, why can’t it be a Pokestop?ā€

Yeah we can still submit, but as I said above… most of these shouldn’t be submitted at all.

I’ve said this 100 times if I’ve said it once… It’s Niantic’s map, we’re just curating it. They have rules that we need to follow, but the trouble comes when Niantic itself isn’t following its own rules.

90% of memorial benches/tree’s that are on the map aren’t eligible anymore and are grandfathered in.

Random signs aren’t eligible unless they fall into a category of acceptance.

Little free libraries promote exploration and give back to the community.

Mike’s small engine repair isn’t a great place to socialize, exercise, or explore.

Are there some eligible power spots that aren’t on the Lightship map? I’m sure there are. I haven’t seen one but I’m sure there are. I’d wager that 95%+ of the non-lightship map power spots would be summarily denied if submitted through Wayfarer. That’s the problem.

This isn’t a Wayfarer question, but a PoGo question. You may want to look in the PoGo help section or do a web search on it.

Like this and usually appearing at the end point of your route.

I’m so wishing we got emails for requesting Power Spot removals like with Wayspot removals…

Had my first Power Spot in the middle of a road today. Said it was for a photography business, but I doubt they are set up on an Interstate highway and a busy underpass for one of the busiest streets in the city.

Also found one at a Boys and Girls Club (before/after school program), another closed Burger King, and a K-Mart that’s been closed for 5 years.

My favorite Indian Takeaway is today’s new max spot! High quality being that its a real, current business that expects members of the public to hang around at! And they have the best takeaway indian food in the area. Would make a great waypoint if you could eat there but you cant.

Two nearby changed from a Lightship only and Ingress only to another Lightship only and Overture B&B/Private Property.

Boat club Powerspot remains located on someone’s home rather than the actual Boat Club

My favourite Powerspot refuses to budge just to taunt me :roll_eyes:

I will although I used my last appeal on that little unknown Victorian bridge that spans the Forth. You’ve probably never seen it… The big Cantilever one that’s a UNESCO. world heritage site :woman_shrugging:t2:

This whole topic is more PokƩmon Go than Wayfarer. Wayfarer has no control over what Go is using for whatever this is. Let the PokƩmon Go team worry about the mess they made.

I agree in part - but I see several formerly Ingress-only Wayspots that are now in Pokemon Go as Power Spots, so yes they’re also in Lightship. Some of those are in ā€œsaltedā€ areas for Pokemon Go, as the owners requested removal of all Pokemon Go content years ago while allowing Portals to stay. I would hate for those to be removed from Lightship by accident instead of from the PGo-only layer, but I do hope the ā€œsalted-earthā€ ones are eventually gone from Pokemon Go to respect the owner’s wishes. Several of those troublesome Power Spots are in a nearby cemetery that now hosts several Max Battles despite not having even basic spawns for several years - so I hope they don’t become too popular in game. :frowning:

1 Power Spot at a lical park is a Wayspot for the story walk there. It’s one of the few Wayspots there not in PoGo as a stop or gym.

Us Wayfarers speaking about this may also help get other unused Wayspots used as Power Spots in the future. This could be done in the downtown area of my city, for example, yet it’s kind of a Power Spot desert for such a busy part of the city.

Niantic watches these forums, and not just for Wayfarer, but all their products. It doesn’t hurt to talk about our hopes that more Power Spots will come from the Lightship map, meaning more user-centered game play locations in PoGo, and hopefully less users coming here to ask ā€œWhere’s my PokĆ©stop?ā€ constantly.

I’m seeing a mix of what I’m guessing is Foursquare and Lightship

Just like we redirect people about anything gym or stop related, I see no difference here. It’s some formula with S2.
