Niantic doesn’t care about rural areas

I’ve been playing this game on and off for 10 years and I love the game but I hate that I have to go 50 to 60 miles in any direction in order to be able to do anything that they ever release because of the fact I live in a rural are where there are no pokestops or anything at all and anywhere that could be a pokestop there’s not a service plan that gets service there why do I feel like the game wants me to eather spoof or just keep throwing money at remote raids and etc can someone please tell me what I need to be doing because I really don’t wanna have to learn how to spoof

Hello and Welcome,

It is extremely rare that there is nothing to nominate..

If you are happy to give a general location some people here love to scour the maps and give suggestions.

The following is also useful…

Hello and welcome @krazyk2053,

If there is very little for a 50 mile radius then that is certainly very remote. I’m not sure that I fully understood but the area has very little mobile phone signal either.
Wayfarer may be able to help find some things to create stops, gyms and powerspots.
Presumably you have to travel long distances for everything you do? One of the things you can do is try to make those towns the best places to play that you can. That way when you do go you can have a lot to interact with.
Nearer to your home as it sounds remote are there trails that people hike on? If there are any settlements nearby where do people gather to socialise - it might be more unusual but we can help describe it to make its relevance clear. Any places of worship?
The community here will be happy to help you make the best of what you have. So do give us an idea of the location.

I think there is also that other side, that this may just not be an ideal game given lack of mobile signal. There are always pros about places that are remote - the peace and quiet, great nature around you. If you are finding it becoming a frustrating experience maybe it is time to alter play style.

So if you want to let us see if we can help tell us more.

My area is sycamore Kentucky I’d love any help anyone can give me I’m just trying to bring the game to my area witch it’s taking to very well everyone’s enjoying it but all my friends are already get irritated because they as well need to go to town in order to do anything besides just catch pokemon and battle rocket

To be 100% honest I don’t live in a area that anyone is going to think theres any good pokestops or anything, because its all eather private owned or the areas that are public there trashed and destroyed and slowly dying and most the time just looks like crap to anyone besides the locals there’s a church about 5 miles down the road ima make a pokestop whenever I remember to stop and take a picture. Also I’m trying to bring pokemon go to my area. I’ve already got a lot of my friends and family playing for a couple months now but they’re all slowly quitting because there’s nothing around and I would just like to change that or know what I could do to change it

Would you be able to post coordinates for your general area? I can only find the city of Sycamore

For simplicity…

37.622037, -82.511045

Cemeteries are not usually acceptable but is the building behind a church?

Definitely another one for my list of “looks a great place to live, not great for pokemon go” :frowning:

I assume with places like this you do have to travel for shopping etc. Maybe improving those areas would be more beneficial.

Nope it’s just a house:cry:

Correct and I’ve thought about it it’s just I don’t ever have the time to just go all the way to town and not get stuck doing abunch of stuff and still have the time to bring to look for things to nominate and etc. but I’ll try a lil harder to get some more in just to help the game and the community

Wanted to make sure no one messed it up :joy:

personally i think its not Niantics fault that your house is in a very beautiful country, in a very beautiful landscape and i am sure its a great pleasure to live there. It is also not Niantics fault that you dont have cell coverage. The bad news is that you probly will never be able to play around your house, because theres nothing there.

There are very good possibilites nearby, towns that are in the 20 miles radius.

I am not familiar but i think there might be some trails with trailmarkers that should give you an area to play. Coal Run Village and Pikeville definately are not 50 miles way.

I do also live rural, and i know that we do have parts of our town that simply dont have anything to nominate - but trails.

So as the others have said it’s pretty slim pickings here.

Is this a private picnic area?

Is this a little free library or just a mailbox?

There’s a picnic area at the voluntary fire dept., I’m not sure if its location would impact emergency procedures, if not it might be eligible

Churches, chapels

Interesting looking bridge

Best play area would probably be possible at the restaurant/campsite/pay lake area, with each of these things potentially being eligible on their own merit AND having some eligible things inside, one of the churches is nearby too. It should only be 8 minutes or so away by car

This mural/photo spot thing is apparently there also

It looks like you have some very interesting point at your town.
I would like to suggest some tips:
1.- Make reviews in wayfarer in order to get improvements and then your nomination are going to be in “fast way” review.
2.- 1st Pokegym appears with 2nd pokestop and 2nd gym appears with 6th pokestop so keep it in mind.

Thanks so much for theses great ideas I had no idea these passed for pokestops but tbh I don’t no service over through there but id say other people do u can def make these pokestops and hopefully make the ones closer to me gyms lol but ill take what I can get

You don’t need service there to make a pokestop. Just take pictures and upload them from the website.

Don’t rely on “someone else could do that”. It’s you or never

Here’s the thing—I get what you’re trying to say.

But the frustration you’re feeling isn’t caused by Wayfarer or Niantic/Scopely.

It’s baked into Pokémon GO’s own system design.

So no matter how much anger you throw at Wayfarer, it’s never going to fix the core issue.

Let’s say Wayfarer suddenly loosened its criteria and started approving way more nominations.

Sure, you’d get a bunch of new pokestops within a mile of your home and feel satisfied for a moment.

But those same relaxed rules would apply everywhere.

So a city 50 miles away—where there are way more eligible locations—would end up with far more new pokestops than your area.

And then you’d say:
“Why does my area still have almost nothing? Niantic doesn’t care about rural players.”

That’s why the only real solution is for Pokémon GO itself to adopt a system that boosts rural pokestops independently of Wayfarer.
