After I submitted a wayfarer nomination for a trail and painting, it got declined by ‘our team’ which I was informed is AI and I included everything, a photo, a description, reasons why people would go there, all the above and it still got declined! I have heard from multiple friends that the AI has been declining a lot of reasonable stuff and accepting unreasonable stuff.
AI (ML) has not been accepting stuff for several months now.
Welcome to the forum ![]()
I’ve moved your posts into an own thread, here we can discuss it further if you want. Would you show us some screenshots of your rejected nominations? Maybe the community on here is able to give some good hints and advices to improve your next try.
Generally, people complaining on social media tend to not tell the whole truth. eMiLy doesn’t accept wayspots.
It is used to weed out junk and does a decent job of it. Some things get rejected by eMiLy that would be reasonable to let through to reviewers; some things get past eMiLy that are instant rejections once they get to reviewers, but it would be impossible for an automated system to get all judgement calls correct (otherwise you wouldn’t need reviewers).
Despite occasionally having AI rejection myself , i still think AI is needed. Too many people submit junk nomination out there. Some of it might got incorrectly approved in the past
I looked into the nominations you referred to here and I agree with Emily’s (our Machine Learning Model) decisions.
Regarding the trail nomination, there are a few issues with the it. The image shows a few trees, looks more like a backyard than a trail. I could not find any mention of the trail you have submitted. If that is an official/named trail, you need to submit evidence.
The second submission (French Bulldog Painting), that’s a mass produced piece of art hung inside a private residential property. That too is ineligible.
I strongly recommend that you review Wayspot criteria before submitting any further nominations.
Happy exploring!
Just fyi, “our team” in the email can also mean human staff reviewed it. The indications of an ML model rejection can be the rejection reason stating it was declined by the “automated process” on your contribution, and by the rejection happening around 20-24 hours after submission.
Well it used to. It could just be a case of outdated information rather than not telling the truth.
Thanks a lot for this new information, there are trees but there is a trail under, but I won’t submit something again. I thought I could use the painting because I saw paintings as a category and nearby in my neighborhood there are a lot of poke stops for art.
Can you please give me a good example of something that can be accepted?
You can read more about criteria here:
Is it possible that I can submit a local accounting firm for a poke stop, because I saw one of my neighbors has a power spot for LMNDeavors? If not that’s ok.
Hydroponics*, not LMNDeavors, that’s his company name. Sorry!
Power Spots are different. You can read more about them here:
Here are our policies on businesses:
Are you part of any online groups? Discord, Reddit, and Facebook have communities where people post approved Wayspots that can be great sources of inspiration. It might be harder to dig through posts here, but there’s a lot of sources available on this site.
You haven’t identified your location (I didn’t see at least) but the Tips for Rural Nominations would have some good advice in general.
Lastly, if you’re comfortable sharing your actual approximate location, users could help scout out ideas for you!
I recently went to a hotel and sent some nominations, 4 in fact, for statues and only one got accepted. At first it got declined then later accepted, but they are all on the same grounds and same area and the one that got accepted after getting declined was a Chinese statue, and the ones that got declined were an animal statue, a kid statue, and a Hindu statue. I’m pretty sure statues are a category and they are community spots with many people gathering and taking photos. All the pictures were normal and they were all outdoors and publicly accessible, so what’s the problem?
Kind of off topic, but I have been to that place in your pfp.
I saw in a Poke Daxi video that it was AI, guess he was wrong.
If it is the video I am thinking of, it was correct at the time he made it. The emails were changed.
[edit: did some digging and it seems to have been around march of 2024 when the “our team” rejection started to be seen on rejections that had been seen to be under in house review.]
