Something similar happened with mine, that was approved in May 12th but is still not shown in the map. I’ve checked the S2 cells and the coordinates of the cell (41.4016119, 2.1810904) are empty (no other pokestops nor gyms on it) however it’s been more than 2 weeks and it doesn’t appear. The Red Cross is where I placed the pokestop that was approved. Anybody can help me understand why? Thank you!
That’s because the data on the website you used is incorrect, your nomination and the left one are both in the same cell. Pokemongomap.info is not a good tool at all
Hi @Slither26 and welcome to the forum, I have moved this to a different thread so that we don’t crowd an unrelated one.
When checking your coordinates on the IITC map, I see at least 2 approved wayspots in that cell. While the IITC map is based on Ingress and will not sync with the Wayfarer database anymore, it’s a very good bet that this is why it is not appearing. The tool you are using is incorrect and I would not recommend using it to guide your submissions.
Hello and welcome @Slither26
To add to what has been said here is a screenshot of the actual positions and the level 17 cells.
Ooops my fellow ambassador was quicker
The functionality of the map site you used are good, unfortunately they are unable to use live date so have to use the data that its users supply.
If your area is up to date and accurate then its a very easy to use for use you wanted it for.
Unfortunately, due to the split we don’t currently have a suitable option as discussed at Community Feedback: The Importance of a 'Wayspot' Map .
What app do you use for this?
Should his POI not become a powerspot?
iitc (a map of portals) with a pogotools overlay is the map we are using. this will get less and less accurate as time goes on after the split with scopely. the blue outer ring in this screenshot indicates the minimum distance (22m) from an existing pokestop or gym we think is required to become a powerspot, so it does appear to be eligible for that:
we don’t know the frequency of powerspot updates, but the last two times a sync of new wayspots as powerspots was on May 4 and April 4
[i somehow jumped part of what i typed to a different sentence than where i thought i was typing. i think i have it fixed now.]
It looks as though it might be able to be a powerspot - there are lots of unknowns about this, but it looks feasible.
The map uses data from Ingress with an overlay of the cell structure. Until the split this was very reliable although you also needed to check another map as well. However since the split the 2 maps are slowly diverging and changes in one are not reflected in the other. So it comes with a health warning .
And I’m too slow again
Yeah i have ittc, but it looks totaly different, is the pogotools as plug in or something? Or did i overlook
-i know this is off topic, but it might increase our reviewing/submitting quality-
yes pogotools is a plug in. idk how much good it will do you at this point but if you search for pogotools, the current version is this one:
I have been told by staff that this type of file is one that is not allowed to be shared on the forum directly, since the kind of file has potential to do harm, but that I may leave a screenshot.
It looks like the author has recently updated the readme, which i always point people to for installation instructions, to include more about the current situation.
Thank you very much for your quick response Xenopus, now I see that the tool I was using to check the cells was totally outdated. Thanks for clarifying and for sharing the proper tool I can use for next contributions
Hi elijustrying! Thanks for your previous response with the screenshot and this comment too. I hope it can become a powerspot at least. Fingers crossed
You’re very welcome, and glad to hear the IITC overlay could help you for the future. Keep in mind what has been said about the maps not syncing anymore though - you may still have surprises.
However, yes, the pogomap tool shown above has been demonstrated to have incorrect cell lines multiple times, it’s not only about user contributed data, so IITC remains the better choice for now despite these limitations.
