The most popular gym at the University of Florida turned into a pokestop

Description:
The most active gym on UF campus - and is located among the Community Ambassador meeting spot - has suddenly turned into a pokestop today. The location of the gym wasn’t moved today (I checked) nor did a new gym appear to take its place. A local trainer who had a Pokemon in that gym said his Blissey is stuck in the ether. This particular gym shared a cell with a sponsored Starbucks gym, making it the spot where raiding activity occurred. The community is devastated and really hopes it can be restored!

Was there movement of any other stops? When that happens, usually the game recalculates. And then when cells do that, ive seen sponsored gyms trump natural gyms. I hate it.

The reason that a new gym didn’t appear is because the Level 14 S2 Cell already has the maximum of 3 Gyms. It has Starbucks, Century Tower and Jennings Hall. Whilst sponsored gyms can cause the cell to go over the limit of 3 gyms if they’re added when the cell is already at 3 gyms, they do still count towards the gym limit for the cell, so if a gym is removed or downgraded, as has happened here, then Starbucks will be treated as one of the 3 gyms for that cell, and if an edit happens to one of the gyms in an oversaturated cell, that can cause that gym to get downgraded because the cell realises it has too many gyms when the edit occurs.

As for why it was demoted, are you sure it wasn’t moved? Was there anything else in that level 17 S2 cell aside from both the downgraded gym and Starbucks? Did the downgraded gym get edited in any other way?

As for the trainer with the Blissey, it should be returned to them over the next couple of days, at full hp and with no coins.

Are you aware how many gym/wayspot in the area recently? What was the gym in the area?

There was 2 gyms and 1 pokestop in that cell. It used to be that the Sponsored gyms acted as a bonus fourth gym for the S14 Cell, so it was totally possible to have 2 gyms in a cell like that. This particular gym has 11 photos and a ton of likes and is easily one of the most active gyms in the entire city, let alone just on UF campus. It’s a major injustice that a gym this popular is the one that gets put on the chopping block.

Was it edited recently? It looks like it shares the same name, description and coordinates in PoGo compared to Ingress. Because the last sync between the two games took place a couple of weeks ago, it is apparent that it wasn’t edited recently.

I can confirm that another stop pretty far away (but in the same S14) was also correctly moved on April 11.

I’m willing to compromise - take Jennings Hall instead! Please! The loss of this gym for this city is a major travesty.

I am sorry to say but gym creation is not wayfarer issue. Even if there were case that gym was removed and restored, wayfarer can only restore the wayspot but not the gym, thats pogo issue.

This is previous case

In addition sponsored gym also might surpress normal gym

I am guessing this is what happened
