Theres still a few waypoints from when people were submitting in the wayfarer app (before they told us to stop, before anyone gets their knickers in a twist) that got accepted but never appeared in ingress of pokemon (dunno about other games) despite meeting inclusion rules (nothing within 20m, cell empty). Befire the split, can we hive the teams a kick up the backside to sort these ghost pois out? @NianticTintino
Hi @gazzas89
Iâve moved your post into the main thread to hold all questions collective.
At this stage I wish we could just have these deleted so we could simply resubmit without them being marked as duplicates.
Mine briefly made it into the game as powerspots when they first appeared.
New update from Ingress:
Updated Fri Apr 11:
On Tue Apr 15 at 10:30 AM PDT, weâll disable Niantic Campfire and the Niantic Profile on Ingress. Additionally, weâll temporarily pause new Portal nominations and Portal edits as well as new missions and mission edits until new solutions are ready at Niantic Spatial.
On Thu Apr 17, from 10:30 AM PDT to 4:30 PM PDT, weâll temporarily disable account linking and unlinking, new account creation, and distance tracking. You may also experience issues using Sign in with Apple to sign into Ingress, but you should be able to sign in using Sign in with Google instead.
Sign in with Facebook will be removed as a login provider starting with Ingress version 2.165.1.
â The Ingress Team
This prob deserves itâs on thread!!! lolol
As a very casual Ingress player before Pokémon GO was released, and eventually a solid Pokémon GO player I want to say thank you and express sincere gratitude to the Ingress Agents and Ingress community that worked so hard to keep the map updated before Pokémon GO could even conceive such a thing.
Your hard work made the map better for everyone, and I really used to enjoy coming here and reading the great insights and opinions of Ingress players. We all owe you a debt of gratitude, and I for one think you deserve more than that.
A little faster than I was expectingâŠ
Those that remote submit arenât going to be all that happy next week.
Trying to keep things in one place for now.
But if it becomes clear that it would be better handled separately we can split into a new topic.
Iâm sat here wondering if they think the database split will happen on x date and on average a nomination takes x days so letâs turn off ingress nominations on the 15th so as not to disappoint ingress players when their nomination doesnât make the cut off.
But with mission submissions included in announcement, which I realise is not wayfarer, this turns more into a rant.
Who switches off old functionality before the new functionality is in place.
Edit: my rant is not aimed at wayfarer
I would guess they are turning it off now to not have a large amount of submissions from ingress in the system while they are trying to build the new backend. I suspect they may make a cutoff as to where anything submitted before Tuesday has a chance to enter into the various niantic games but going forward any nomination made from ingress will strictly be for ingress is my guess.
You got to be kidding meâŠ
I just had booked a 4-day trip for next weekâs easter holidays to travel around and submit portals in Lapland, Finland. The what do I do now?
I agree that itâs very short notice especially with holidays coming up where people travel.
Itâs probably not what you want to do, but if youâre L37+ on PokĂ©mon GO, you could nominate from there and see if they get added to Ingress too? Thatâs going to be my plan until we get the new system
I have a very low-level PoGo account and my son has a high-enough-level kidâs account so unfortunately no help there.
Are you able to use Reddit or something to get gifts and XP quickly on PokĂ©mon GO? I think thatâs how some people level it up.
Theoretically perhaps, but not a likely solution.
I opened a thread about my specific problem in here: Any ideas? Nominating portals when nominations are paused
The things that WOULD solve my problem that I can think of:
- A possibility to nominate portals without sending them ie. stocking those at scanner / local memory until nomination pause is lifted (whenever that is).
- A promise from Niantic that thr nomination distance limits in Ingress would be lifted for a certain time period when the pause is lifted.
- A possibility to nominate portals without a scanner via Geospatial Browser / separate form / e-mail.
Does anyone have an idea what should I do in this situation: Iâve submitted three POIs on Friday and used up my upgrades so that they can be approved before the submission freeze/map separation. One of those upgrades is marked as âunder reviewâ, with the wayfarerâs logo next to it, so it can take some time before itâs approved or rejected (itâs a monument to bomber pilots who were shot down by messerschmitts in the early days of ww2). Iâm primarily an ingress player these days, so Iâm wondering if Iâll be out of luck should the review process last longer?
If this has been asked already, please ignore.
Assuming Niantic-Spatial submissions for Ingress and possibly other games happens, will their submission criteria be similar to what we have now?
Will the Submission criteria for Pokemon Go and possibly other former Niantic games under Scopely retain the same submission guidelines?
Is there discussion on tightening or loosening the submission requirements on both sides?
Hi @mdrps
At this point I wouldnât worry about that too much. The 15th is the date to pause new submissions. Your existing nominations will still be processed and your access to your contribution page will remain:
They havenât said anything yet, but I would say itâs safe to assume that the criteria for Nianticâs end wonât change.
This is the million dollar question, Scopely has been radio silent about everything so far. I would venture to guess they wonât change anything until theyâve had time to settle the teams together and evaluate where they want to put people internally. Once theyâve done that theyâll look at making changes to Wayfarer, et all.
Nothing publically.
