For many years wayfarer/opr didnt work very well. It was close to impossible to remove non existing poi and to re-locate poi that for some reason suddenly got missplaced.
Wayfarer today have improved significant as well as they have actually been enforcing the rules for those who have abused the system for years.
It would be very unfortunate if Niantic Spatial doesnt keep this improvements.
Im also very curious if ingress agents that lost access to wayfarer, now will be granted access to niantic spatial. @NianticTintino

Someone didn’t read the terms of service

Thank you for being so responsive here!!

TBH I always hated Wayfarer. The questions were way too ambiguous and the criteria was annoying and hard to apply in a lot of cases. I really hope we get a newer, better system that makes more intuitive sense.

I’m wondering about the fate of the stops created in ingress(from the past to before the acquisition) in Pokemon Go. In the official answer, they say “Correct, Ingress contributions won’t show up in Pokémon GO, Ingress, or Monster Hunter Now and vice versa.”
I’m wondering if the stops created in Ingress from the past are no longer represented in Pokemon Go, or if the only stops created after the acquisition don’t make mutual appearances.

I’m not sure where you’re getting any of that from. Niantic was not a ‘licencee’ of player wayspot data - players gathered the data, niantic owned the collected POI database. And you absolutely did agree a contract for niantic to be able to use that data as they see fit.

Honestly if you didn’t understand that while submissions were beneficial to you as a player and to agents in general, yet the database itself was a valuable asset you were helping assemble for niantic, then I’m not really sure you were paying attention to anything, certainly not to the minutia of the T&Cs and TOS.

While I applaud the boldness of you suggesting the company that just paid $3.5B simply discard an asset, which would then destroy any ability for players to play those games, I can assure you (despite me having no involvement in the acquisition process) that scopely will have a cast iron guarantee that the database is theirs to use as they see fit, and similarly, that niantic spacial also have the absolute right to use the POI database for ingress, and for their other projects that require it - I’m not sure why you seem to have leapt to the conclusion that the sale will mean ingress would suddenly lose it’s portal network, and thus all is doom and you’re even suffering any loss that would lead to compensation.

But I don’t want to be a naysayer about all of your post. We can both firmly agree that your first line is spot on, at least.

Good! I still have a dozen or so text edits outstanding since December. It would be so frustrating to re-encounter those problems again, after I’d tried to fix them!

Could Niantic run a sweep of older things in voting or in queue - before the split?

Hi there @donongdochi,

Hope this helps clarify it. I meant to say that Ingress contributions after the transition into Niantic Spatial will not appear in Pokémon GO and the other games going to Scopely, not the ones prior to the transition.

Hope this clears it up

Soooooo, youre saying i should run about this weekend submitting in low turnover speed areas so they can all be resolved and in game before this split :rofl:

@NianticTintino @NianticThibs
When the Pokémon GO and Ingress systems are split, it seemed like AG could continue to use Niantic IDs to sign in to Wayfarer, is this correct? After the split, will a new Spatial ID be created when signing in to the Ingress system?

And in the near future, will NianticID be used to sign in to the Scaniverse? If the way to sign in to Scaniverse is changed, I will be able to share my splat URL to Pokestop nomination without hesitation, right?

Thank you for your kind and quick response! I also wonder.. Is there a possibility that the cell division criteria, the number of gyms or stops in the cell, and the rules will also change?

Will Niantic announce the date when the split happens so that we know if/when our contributions won’t transfer?

Has there been any discussion with Scorply regarding the new Wayfarer app?

I am a Pogo player. I am wondering what’s going to happen to all of the Ingress ports that are on the Wayfair map.

Will they just disappear?
Will that leave room for us to submit Pogo stops in their place?
Will the Ingeess portals that were submitted thru Pogo become Pogo stops?

Anything that’s already on the map will stay on the map. New Ingress submissions will only stop showing up after the split.

@NianticTintino

Can you schedule a new Wayfarer Challenge before the “split” to clean the actual queue (of nominations and edits), please?

Wayfarer Challenge “All in”…?

If you want to name it, isn’t “to travel to space on the :rocket:” the best?

So far I had been relatively reassured about the scopely acquisition. Now for the first time I have serious concerns based on confirmed info. So, a few more questions for the pile…

Will both Ingress & Go/MHN/Bloom at least retain all of the waypoints they currently use even after the split happens? As others have said, Ingress agents built out the map early on. Despite how many go players have gotten into wayfarer & submitted waypoints, if all the waypoints submitted via Ingress are pulled, it will cause immense damage for go players & communities across the board. And that’s to say nothing of how it would affect bloom & monster hunter players.

Really, I can not possibly overstate how detrimental it will be if the split causes the games under scopely to lose all waypoints submitted via ingress prior to the split, even if most ingress players wouldn’t mind losing ones submitted via go.

Secondly, will this change allow for fixing the long running bug where photo likes from ingress were mistakenly carried over to go when the featured was ported to that game? And speaking of photos, will all existing photos in the system be carried over to both sides of the split once it occurs, or will photos only remain on the side where they were originally submitted from? And assuming the photos are carried over to both sides, will there be any sort of custom username(s) displayed to indicate which ones came from the now split off game?

Third, will people that play both Ingress and Go be affected in any ways not already outlined?

Forth, Can we PLEASE get a Go equivalent of IITC, or at least some way to see what waypoints exist in the database, along with their precise coordinates? IITC is very useful for planning nominations & just getting a better visual of what the game map looks like at a glance. No longer having that tool or an equivalent reliably available for planning would, at least for me, be a significant blow to motivation. Not to mention it would be an extra annoyance to many community ambassadors when trying to pinpoint a location to have their sponsored pokestop.

And finally, assuming that waypoints approved before the split are carried over to both Ingress & Go/the other scopely games (Please for the love of all things good make SURE this happens, at least for the soon to be scopely games!,) do we still have time to have nominations approved & get into both before a certain date? And if so, is there any chance of being informed of when that date will be?

Please don’t let me down here, this is make or break. :grimacing:

Will ingress get rid of the 20m radius & run challenges of going thru 15mil portals to reclassifybl the better rules that ingress got ideals for

Pretty sure the bulk of ingress players loathes generic business ie sport gym chains

While pogoers are opposite…
