A post was split to a new topic: Need for more pokestops
Not replying necessarily to this specific post.
The skills and interests that help people to progress beyond the initial one or two submissions in wayfarer, are different from those involved in many games.
Initial education is very important but ongoing education and feedback is vital.
For some that ongoing part is about reading and taking part in forums like this - nothing clarifies how criteria can be applied than trying to talk through a particular scenario with others. It challenges and clarifies your thinking. Reading those posts is also a great way to learn about nuances.
A key nut to crack is how to enable a wider wayfarer audience to read that.
In response to the posts above, I am not against more education for new wayfarers.
This post is basically regarding the fact that many more players will be Level 35 after the new levels appear. With my “Guestimates” I believe there will be much larger influx of new Wayfarers tomorrow than with the previous level drop.
It is down to Niantic what level they want to drop to and what training should be given, personally IMO if they dropped it to level 5 after a settling in period things would go back to normal.
So, Bring in more Training = Yes
Slow down the introduction of “newer” players = Yes
Whats needed is more education, low level just mean they may not be familiar with what to submit but they can work on that later . Ingress player used to be able to submit at lv 1. Took me months just to reach lv8 when there is nothing to play.
I am sure lowering lv will help people in the remote area
I agree with this but would prefer any level drop to be slower.
Just to confirm, this is not meant to mean raising the “real” level so less people will reach the level needed to use wayfarer.
Changing the Level to 40 on the new system will still lower the barrier for entry, then every 3 months drop it again until it reaches the level Niantic wants.
I don’t know what the right level should be, but I wouldn’t have an issue with it being level 70, and lower levels being phased in over time.
That would be a real world increase.
Currently you need 6 million XP to reach “Wayfarer” level.
This will get you around the mid 40s on the new levels.
If it remains at Level 35 players will only need 2 million XP.
IMO: This is too big a drop in 1 go.
Even if it were in the mid-40’s, I wouldn’t have much of an issue. Either the level that it should be should match like for like, or it should initially be a little harder until the staff know how much of an impact it has caused so that they can adjust accordingly.
I think we need to stop looking at this as a possible negative, but look more at the positives of having more users possibly tomorrow.
Like I have noted, I doubt that Scopely didnt’t look at the pros and cons of this, and it would seem that the pros for them outweighed the cons. Yes, there will be some pain with us that have been doing this for a long time, as we’ll most likely have to do some more education for new users, but it’s something we have gotten through before, and can get through again.
I think a lot of people have missed the point of my original question. All I am interested in knowing is whether there is going to be a change in the Wayfarer Eligibility requirements outside of any opinions I or anyone else have given.
Well it won’t be that long until we find out now soon™️
Can’t wait…. soon™️can’t come soon™️enough.
I dont think so. As someone who ald start submitting in ingress from lvl 1, Its very frustrating to start playing when there is nothing to interact. Imagine you are lvl 1 and you can only catch a few pokemon before running out of ball. You cant even send gift to quickly lvl up when there is nothing to spin. Even with lvl requirement reduction, submitter might need weeks to lvl up if there is no wayspot, not including time required to review the nomination (if its even approved). You might need a month or two to see pokestop (if you dont quite pogo before that time period)
I think if there was going to be a change before the 15th, it would have been announced by now.
I’m hoping for a surprise announcement….. soon™️
Personally I think good wayfarers come at all levels, as do bad ones.
Someone will either take the tine to read the criteria, or they won’t. People will also be led astray by their locals telling them what to do (incorrectly). Or they get lucky and know other wayfarer enthusiasts.
The worst wayfarer abuser I know is level 50 twice over and couldn’t care less about the database and is all about getting a stop in every cell. Then I have got to know new wayfarers who start in the mid level 30s and become incredibly knowledgeable very quickly because they love finding out more information and want to do things the proper way
I think its about the kind of person you are, nothing to do with how many catches you’ve made or lucky eggs you bought.
I don’t disagree with you, I also believe that allowing lower level wayfarers “could” help in some areas.
We know from previous level drops that there is a period where we get “misguided” comments in the forums from people who at that moment don’t understand the process.
This is the only reason I state that the level drops should be incremental.
I am also not sure that it should be Level 1, what is to stop someone creating a new account just to nominate coal / fakes / AI etc. If he gets a ban he creates another.
So to confirm, I am not against Niantic dropping the level to whatever they think is suitable, I just think smaller drops with time inbetween to allow things to settle is the safest method.
If anyone wants to do that, it’s already not very time consuming, especially as of tomorrow, so I don’t think level 1 makes a significant difference
Also hopefully anyone silly enough to do it would make a mistake identifying themselves against their current account and get a penalty
Well I am confident that on this forum any new people will receive a hello and welcome from who is around at that time. They may have lots of questions and feel overwhelmed at big posts talking of mysterious cells and wayspots to pokestops and criteria
What do you think might be key message to get across without causing a headache
Or one thing you wish you had been told.
