Can anyone please help me understand why my contributions were not accepted and the appeal refused?

Hello,

I am fairly new here but I was very excited to add some new stops in my neighborhood. I made a couple of stops but they have been rejected.

One of them is about a whole bunch of birdhouses in a cool formation. I have seen similar stops in other neighborhoods so I thought it was fine. It got rejected based on it being on private property. I dont understand why.. its literatuur on the pavement next to a huge road with busses going by it every 10 mins. But even the appeal said it was private property. Can anyone explain what exactly Could be wrong? And should I try resubmitting it with more pictures of the road maybe?

The other one got rejected based on abuse. I have not appealed for that one since I dont have any appeals left. I dont understand why people claim it was abuse. To explain: its special tiles on the pavement indicating you are on the art route of the neighborhood. Multiple of these are already stops and thus accepted. They are all part of a cool neighborhood project making a route past all the art around. So again: I dont understand how this is abuse..

Since I am new to this, this may be very stupid to ask but I would appreciate any help. I obviously dont want to add bad stops but I legitimately think these are good. Can I do anything to try these again?

Hi Celiwien,

Don’t worry, there are no stupid questions when you are starting out. Do you mind sharing screenshots of the submissions so we can have a look?

The “abuse” rejection can happen if you’ve used a third-party photo published elsewhere. Did you take your own photo for that wayspot?

Welcome. Sorry to hear that. In order for us to comment further we need more information. Please share complete detail on your nomination( photo, surrounding, title, desc, supporting info, location)

In addition abuse rejection can happen if using 3rd party foto or missplacement of wayspot submission

Hello And welcome @Celiwien

You are doing exactly the right thing asking questions, and we will be happy to support you.

It is confusing when you arrive at the forum as to where the best place is to post your query. Since this is abouting helping with your nominations I shall move it to Nomination Support.

It will help us if you can post the actual nomination so we can get a full picture of what is happening.

One thing to be very careful of is assuming that a submission is going to be valid just because something else similar already exists in the game. This can be a false assumption, because ineligible wayspots do sometimes get through the system:

  • maybe because they are very old when the criteria was different
  • maybe because the reviewers let something through that they shouldn’t have
  • maybe because of voting rings (asking friends to vote positively on your submission)

Always evaluate your potential submission based on the Wayfarer criteria, not on what else is in the game.

Okay thanks everyone! I cant post a link I guess so I will take some screenshots. For the record I took all the pictures myself and I placed them correctly as far as I can tell (the map looks a bit different at Some places.. guess maybe its an older map or something).

This is the application of the birdhouses: the description is in dutch. It pretty much says: cute distinctive birdhouses in pyramid form. It is at one of the bigger/more crowded streets in the neighborhood. Lots of people come by every day.

I hope this works! Never used this forum before sorry.

And I accidentaly pressed send so here is a second reply with the other one:

Part is in English. The description in Dutch pretty much says: art you should to see in the neighborhood. This trail gives you the opportunity to explore all art in Groningen outdoors

That [the birdhouses] will almost certainly have been rejected for private property (which is “single-family private residential property” - apartments, businesses etc are ok).

If there is an existing wayspot that is basically the same and on the side of a private house, that shouldn’t have been accepted, but sometimes ineligible thinks get through.

I think those trail tiles are controversial. There are discussions elsewhere about them and hopefully someone who knows more will reply.

Yeah that makes sense sorry. I guess I have just seen so many of these kinds of stops that I assumed they would be okay. I will definitely do more research next time I try! But yeah honestly I am still unsure why these were rejected but hopefully now that I posted them you guys can teach me!

Oh really? There are so many of them Here and I honestly like the idea of following the trail and having the stops indicating the route but maybe thats just me

Anything on the side of single-family private residential property (SFPRP) is ineligible and liable to get rejected. Some things in some areas get accepted anyway without issue, but that doesn’t make them eligible.

Hi there,

Rule.of thumb is: never take already accepted Wayspots as rule compliant. As you are in the BeNeLux region, this hits you even more because there are still.a lot of ineligible nominations accepted from cheaters live in the database.

That whole.things also lead to tiles also being generally rejected

What do you mean by that whole thing making tiles rejected? Are tiles like this not okay?

There’s not a strong argument against them, but then being hard to control now makes them not ok

Ah okay, thanks for all the tips everyone. I definitely understand the birdhouses now!

The tile one honestly still confuses me a bit since it’s part of a trail and in my head still seems like a Nice spot. But I am new to this so I will look for some other nice places I suppose!

There was a large abuse period in The Netherlands. The wayfarer bot (Emily) accepted almost anything those days and many not eligibel spots got through the system. Tiles like these and mosaic tiles were mass removed and made ineligible because of that. Unfortunately for us newer wayfinders, we don’t know and have to live with what happened.

Oh wow that sucks..

Netherlands-specific issues aside, I find that with trail markers it helps a lot if you find some supporting evidence to prove that they are notable. This can be a website of a park, local governemnt, some mapping service or anything else that shows the route and notability.

Oh thats a good tip! Can you place a link in the application on the part where you explain why you think its a good spot? Because I thought links to things were not allowed.
